Exploration Course on precious manganese ore
By the end of 1997, 214 manganese ore districts had been explored with total explored reserves of 664 million tons. After deducting the mined and lost ores of the previous years, the retained reserves were 552.58 million tons, of which 222.331 tons belong to categories A+B+C. Provided the average Mn content is 22%, the retained metal reserves should be 122 million tons (49 million tons of categories A+B+C).
In China, intensive work has been carried out in manganese prospecting. Among the retained reserves, 249 million tons (45%) belong to the exploration stage, 274 million tons (49.6%) to the detailed reconnaissance stage and 30 million tons (only 5.4%) to the reconnaissance stage.
According to the statistics made by relevant research institutions, the total Mn resources are estimated at 2.7 billion tons, four times as much as the explored reserves, suggesting good prospects of manganese exploration.Mineral Commodity Summaries(1999 edition) reported that the world’s Mn reserves are 680 million tons (referring to metallic Mn, hereinafter) and the reserve base is 5 billion tons. South Africa ranks first in the world in terms of its reserve base of 4 billion tons, followed in order by Ukraine (520 million tons), Gabon (150 million tons), Australia (80 million tons), Brazil (56 million tons), Georgia (49 million tons) and India (36 million tons). It is known by comparing China’s reserves of categories A+B+C with the reserve bases of foreign countries that China and Georgia together rank sixth before India.Henan Hongxing Mining Machinery Co., Ltd is the professional manufacturer of complete sets of mining machinery, for example, sand washer, sand maker Welcome all of you to visit our official website.ore flotation equipment:http://www.hx-crusher.com/flotation_machine.html
It should be pointed out that there are a wealth of manganese nodules on the oceanic floor in the world. It is estimated that there are as many as 3 trillion tons of these resources in oceans and 1.7 trillion of them are in the Pacific Ocean. Manganese nodules contain not only Mn, but also Cu, Ni and Co. They will be the major source of these metals. Industrial exploitation, however, has not been conducted yet at present. China commenced the investigation of ocean-floor manganese nodules in the late 1970s and has outlined prospective regions covering 301,000 km2. Further exploration is now under way in the 150,000 km2 Chinese pioneer area to make an assessment for locating manganese nodule concentration areas.
There are 214 proved manganese ore districts in China and 553 million tons of retained reserves (ores) are distributed in 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. Guangxi and Hunan are the two major regions and they have reserves of 211 million and 102 million tons, amounting to 38.2% and 18.4% of the national total, respectively. Guizhou (74 million tons), Yunnan (39 million tons), Chongqing (25 million tons), Liaoning (39 million tons), Hubei (14 million tons) and Shaanxi (13 million tons) are of secondary importance and they have reserves of 204 million tons in total, making up 36.9% of China’s total.
