The Office Paper Contradiction
There I was surfing Time Magazine online and I somehow managed to stumble upon an article written in 1981 stating that the office supplies world was on the cusp on changing forever. The writer, Christopher Byron, was hastily telling his readers that they needed to prepare for an electronic tsunami and the elimination of copying paper from the office supplies cupboard.
Well we all know that Christopher Byron was somewhat correct. We all rely on pc’s, laptops and office printers to do our daily jobs. But we also rely on copier paper more than ever. Of all the office supplies on our website we sell more reams of paper than any other item. So the paperless office is pretty much not happening.
Some of the worlds larger companies have gone a long way to achieving a paperless workspace. The advantage they have is money and they have entire corporate social responsibility departments that can implement such streamlining.
For small to medium sized companies the reality is that computers mean more paper and more printing and more orders to your local office supplies company.
Here at www.office1web.ie we have a finance meeting every Thursday morning. Our accountant arrives with about 500 printed sheets of copy paper under his arm? He brings copies for everybody…even after he has already emailed us the documents. I hope he doesn’t read this blog
Anyway , with accountants like John, the paper supplies cartels of northern Europe will continue to thrive and you will continue to add office paper to your weekly office supplies order!!
Long live Office Supplies!
