Chevrolet’s popular selling hatchback, Beat

Chevrolet is the Indian arm of General Motors in India; it has been present in India for quite some time and it has managed to carve a niche for itself in the thriving Indian car market. Chevrolet has an array of cars in India which include few popular hatchbacks which include, Chevrolet Spark which is a part of A segment. Apart from that, Chevrolet also has Chevrolet Beat in its portfolio which is a part of B segment and has been doing well in India ever since its launch.Chevrolet Beat is present in three options, petrol, LPG and diesel version in India, it was initially launched in petrol guise in India and last year the company launched the diesel version of Beat in India which is the most frugal car present in India. The car was launched at an introductory price of Rs 4.29 lakh (ex-showroom price) which was later hiked and now stands at Rs 4.51 lakh (ex-showroom price).

The Chevrolet Beat price for the petrol version starts at Rs 3.72 lakh and the LPG version price begins at Rs 4.32 lakh (all prices mentioned ex-showroom price).Chevrolet Best gets a stiff competition from Hyundai i10, but Beat definitely has an upper hand over Hyundai i10 as it is not offered in diesel version, but it is available in LPG version. Apart from Hyundai i10, other cars like Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Ford Figo and Honda Brio are some of the cars that are close rivals of Beat. Chevrolet Beat petrol version comes equipped with a 1.2 litre engine that pumps out 79Ps of power at 6200 rpm and 108Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The LPG version is also armed with a 1.2 litre petrol engine along with a LPG kit. The LPG version is offered on Chevrolet Beat LS LPG and Chevrolet Best LT versions.

While the diesel trim is housed with a 1.0 litre diesel mill that drills out 62.5PS of power at 4000Nm and a peak torque of 160.26PS of power at 1750Nm of torque. The petrol version runs 14.5 kmpl in city and 18.6 kmpl on highway, while the LPG variant delivers 11.2 kmkg in city and 13.3 kmkg on highway. However the diesel model which is claimed to be the most fuel efficient car in India offers a fuel efficiency of 19.5 kmpl in city and 24.4 kmpl on highway.Chevrolet Beat has the most distinctive looks among its rivals, this is one thing that makes it conspicuous among its counterparts.

Chevrolet Beat is offered in eight exotic colour options, which comprise of linen beige,cocktail green,Moroccan blue, Olympic white, super red, caviar black, misty lake and sandrift grey.

Buzz has it that the American car maker is evaluating options to bring the sedan version of Beat in India. Chevrolet Beat sedan is expected to be tagged at Rs 5 lakh. Apart from Beat sedan, Chevrolet will also launch the Chevrolet Sail hatchback in India in the month of June. Along with this the company will also spawn sedan version of Sail in India which could be launched by Diwali.
