Favre Is Given 50-50 Shot to Play in Sunday’s Game

With a record ugg boots streak of 289 regular-season starts on the line, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is questionable for Minnesota’s game Sunday against Dallas.

Favre had only limited practice this week as he tried to rest his ailing right elbow, which has been bothered by tendinitis.

Coach Brad Childress said Friday that he would give Favre a 50-50 designation on the injury report, and that a final decision on Favre’s status would be made before the Cowboys game.

“I can’t look into a crystal ball and see how he wakes up tomorrow,” Childress said, jokingly adding, “He could wake up with the gout tomorrow morning.”

Favre said this week that he would consider sitting out, but injuries have not kept him from playing in the past.

“You’re just worried about command and control of it,” Childress said. “Velocity won’t be an issue unless he’s changing his motion.”

REVIS TICKETED FOR SPEEDING Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis said he was ticketed for speeding while driving to the team’s facility for a meeting before practice Thursday. Revis said he was going 80 miles per hour in a 40-m.p.h. zone.

“I mean, I’m not a speedster,” Revis said. “I don’t do that. I was a little late for work, and I was just trying to get here to work. You face the consequences when you speed.”

Revis said he spoke with Coach Rex Ryan and General Manager Mike Tannenbaum after he arrived late for the meeting.

Revis said he would not contest the ticket.

“I’m a citizen, so I’ve got to follow the rules as well as everybody else,” Revis said.

Revis, who has a hamstring injury, is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Denver. Linebacker Calvin Pace, who missed the first four games of the season with a broken right foot, is probable.

N.F.L. SUSPENDS ODOM The N.F.L. rejected Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Antwan Odom’s appeal and suspended him for four games for violating its policy on performance-enhancing UGG Classic Cardy Boots substances. He was suspended before the season but appealed, hoping to have the suspension reduced or rescinded.

Odom, who hurt his right knee last Sunday and wore a brace this week, would have probably missed the next few games anyway. The Bengals (2-3) have their bye this weekend.

He will be eligible to return from the suspension Nov. 15.

COWBOYS ACTIVATE TV STAR The Dallas Cowboys promoted wide receiver Jesse Holley, the former reality TV show winner, to the active roster and released offensive lineman Robert Brewster.

Holley was the winner of a show, “4th and Long,” hosted by the former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin, which guaranteed him a spot in the Cowboys’ training camp in 2009. Holley spent all of last season and the first month of this season on the practice squad. He could be active Sunday against Minnesota to play on special teams.
