Residential Summer Camp for Teens In the Columbia Gorge
Enjoy the experience of a lifetime at the Teen Camps. Four specialized camps for teenagers will be opening this year in the Columbia Gorge, one of the USA’s most stunning natural environments. The Gorge which lies on the borders of Washington and Oregon has long held a status as one of the best locations for outdoor activities such as Windsurfing, Climbing & Mountaineering, Outdoor Photography and general Outdoor Adventure.
These new camps are geared towards active and motivated teens who love the outdoors. And they focus on pushing campers to reach their maximum potential, in a supportive and healthy environment. Teenagers will return home feeling good about themselves, with new skills and with memories that will last a lifetime.
The four camps being offered for the 2012 summer season are:
Photography Camps– The pristine natural environment of the Columbia Gorge is a photographer’s paradise. Abundant wildlife and stunning landscapes make this an ideal location for both experienced photographers and those just starting out.
Climbing Camps – The Gorge is home to Smith Rock State Park and Mt. Adams as well as numerous waterfalls, rock pillars and smaller canyons. Climbers come year round to enjoy some of the most beautiful and most challenging climbing in the Pacific Northwest. The Columbia Gorge Teen Camps have partnered with Professional Climbers International and top professional climbers to bring you an unforgettable climbing and mountaineering adventure.
Windsurfing and Stand Up Paddle Boarding Camp – The walls of the Gorge create a natural wind tunnel making the waters of the Columbia Gorge River and Hood River an internationally famous destination for Windsurfers. Columbia Gorge Teen Camps collaborate with Big Winds, one of the area’s top schools, to bring world class tutelage for accomplished windsurfers and those just learning the sport. On days when the winds aren’t ideal Stand Up Paddle Board outings offer a relaxed alternative to the excitement of Windsurfing Camp .
Outdoor Adventure Camp – The Adventure camp offers a little bit of everything for those teenagers who want to experience all the Gorge has to offer. Windsurfing, camping, climbing, hiking, white water rafting, canoeing and more! The counseling staff at Columbia Gorge has a combined 60+ years’ experience in the youth camping and education. Some of the best mentors, climbers, outdoors men/women and photographers all come together to offer a once in a lifetime experience that will never be forgotten.
