New Mahindra Xylo review
Mahindra and Mahindra is a known company for manufacturing utility vehicles which are huge in size and can be used as a useful car for a huge family with 6 to 7 members. Muscular look and mighty performance are some of the attributes of utility vehicles manufactured by Mahindra and Mahindra. Three years ago in 2009, company launched Mahindra Xylo MPV in the domestic market. However, of late Mahindra and Mahindra launched the revamped version of the MPV, the new Xylo is launched in five trim levels namely, D2, D4, E4, E8 and E9. The MPV is offered in numerous engine options, innovative features and cosmetic changes which make the MPV more appealing than its predecessor.
Xylo’s forerunner adorned boxy design that gave it a conventional look, rounded edges rendered it an untidy appearance. The current generation Xylo has been inherited with much better looks and sharp front fascia. The front grille has a much lean look with black plastic bars and a thick chrome strap at the lower end. Fixed along the sides of MPV is a black plastic strip and the B, C and D pillars have also been coloured in black. Body coloured bumpers and ORVMs come as standard features, but one variant that does not have these features is the D Series variant. Mahindra Xylo E8 and Mahindra Xylo E9 trim levels are affixed with front and rear fog lamps. Alloy wheels too come standard in E8 and E9 versions.
On the interior front the cabin is roomier and sports beige coloured interiors with tod bits done in wooden. E9 version too comes with beige coloured leather upholstery. New Mahindra Xylo price begins at Rs 7.47 lakh to Rs 10.47 lakh (ex-showroom price). Xylo is offered in three engine options that include 2.5 L mEagle CRDe engine that runs 10 kmpl in city and 13 kmpl on highway, the other mill is the 2.5 L mDI CRDe engine that delivers 11.50 kmpl of mileage in city and 14.95 kmpl of fuel efficiency on highway. The last engine option is the 2.2L mHawk CRDe powerplant that offers 11.0 kmpl of fuel economy in city and 14.20 kmpl of mileage on highway. The five new variants D2, D4, E4, E8 and E9 come with a power ranging between 95 PS to 120 PS at RPm ranging between 3600 rpm and 4000 rpm. The torque figures range between 220 Nm to 280 Nm at 1400 to 2800 Rpm.
Amongst the safety features Xylo comes with ABS, airbags and EBD. The MPV is doing pretty well by registering good number of sales every month. Mahindra Xylo is a tough competitor of Toyota Innova and Maruti Ertiga. Toyota Innova is the best seller in the MPV segment but Xylo is giving a neck to neck competition to Innova. Maruti’s Ertiga compact MPV has also received immense response from the Indian customers, the MPV has garnered as many as 32,000 booking within a month of its launch. Also Mahindra is readying itself to launch a mini version of Xylo, Mahindra Mini Xylo which could be launched in the domestic market any time soon. Mini version of Xylo will be shorter than four meters and hence will be priced aggressively.
