Ideal Ways to Go Sightseeing In Vietnam: A Useful Guidebook For Brand New Sightseers

If you pay attention, you will notice that there are dozens of different types of vehicle running around on the street. However, only some of them are perfect matches for sightseeing.

As a first time tourist to Vietnam, what should you do now? Let me answer the question from my point of view as a local Vietnamese and occasional traveler. I know it could help you in some ways, so let’s begin.

1) Drive motorbike like local people

Yes, if you find one thing most people say every time they detail Vietnam, it ought to be “Vietnam is definitely the kingdom of motorbikes”. That might be your first impression about my country as well. And I suggest you should give yourself a try of driving a motorbike here at least once!

But the most important thing here is you can go sightseeing around the city easily and experience the feeling of being a native Vietnamese at the same time.

2) Travel using dedicated buses

And they will take you to the hotel or dedicated places once you arrive. This option is viable if you’re going with a travel agency. If you go with a dedicated bus, it will bring you many useful things and more importantly, comfort.

And by traveling around with the bus, you will also have a great viewpoint of the city as well. And another nice thing I want to point out is that if you’re worried about the local traffic, the bus driver will handle the task for you!

However, because there will always be a plan from the travel agency, you won’t be that free to travel around.

3) Travel using pedicab

Although it might be an unpopular term for you now, it will be more familiar as pedicab or “xich lo” in Vietnamese is one of the famous vehicle for sightseeing here in Vietnam! If you go with family or friends and want to view the entire cityscape in a leisure way, I highly recommend you go with pedicabs!

Just tell or show the drivers where you want to go and they will bring you to the destinations in a leisure and cost-effective way.

4) You can drive a car on yourself here

Don’t mistake this option with the 2nd one of traveling with buses. If you have friends in Vietnam and want to have your own time together, you should try this option. If you don’t have friends here, you can still borrow a car for one day or so.

And this is great for traveling outside of the city if you want. But in order to go this route, make sure you remember the local roads well and have some basic knowledge of Vietnamese to communicate when needed.

5) Explore around with the railroad system

In case you want to explore other beautiful places outside the city, what should you do? Of course, you can still borrow a car and go exploring yourself but as I said above, you need to be very familiar with the local land.

To answer that question, I suggest you take a ride with the local railroad system! If you ask me, I will tell you that it’s one of the best solutions out there! If you’re worried that you could have to pay much money then let me tell you that you have many different choices. And most of them are not that expensive!

If you want to hear my advice then it will be giving Vietnam train system a try. Click here to find out more information! The idea will surprise you some day.
