Diet during Typhoid and Menopause
Typhoid is a bacterial disease caused by ingestion of food or water infected by salmonella enterica. Typhoid is also known as typhoid fever. Few symptoms of typhoid are:

The diet during typhoid should be of high calorie intake with plenty of carbohydrate as fruit juices with glucose, coconut water, barley water, porridge, rice kanji, rava and such food items. Foods rich in fiber should be eaten as roughage present in these foods facilitate in easy and proper bowel movement. • Drink boiled and properly filtered water.
• Wash your feet and hands thoroughly, especially after outdoors.
• Keep food in closed containers.
• Have steamed/boiled food only.
• Do not eat outside food
• Take 1 spoon honey in a glass of hot water and add 1/2 a lime to it, every morning
• Avoid- tea, spicy food, coffee, alcohol and soft drinks.
• Increase fluid intake – glucose water, soups, fresh juices, coconut water.
• In certain cases of a chronic carrier, it becomes necessary to surgically remove the gall bladder.
Menopause is the stage when menstrual flow stops in women and a woman is not able to conceive or form egg in ovary. During menopause the following symptoms can be seen:
• Changes in periods (they may be shorter or longer, heavier or lighter, or have more or less time in between)
• Hot flashes.
• Night sweats.
• Trouble sleeping through the night.
• Vaginal dryness.
• Mood changes.
• Hair loss or thinning on the head, growth in facial hair.
During this period deficiency in calcium is often seen so there should be an increase in calcium. There should be an increase in iron as well because menopause can cause the person to be anemic. Have soya bean products, Soy may give relief from hot flashes, although that benefit is still being debated by researchers. However, we do know that soy may help protect our heart and arteries by lowering bad cholesterol.
Eat fruits and vegetables more during menopause. All the fruits and vegetables have abundant source of phytoestrogens, which are particular plant chemicals that are very similar in structure to estrogen, and may act as weak estrogen in our bodies. Include products which are rich in calcium, iron, vitamin B complex etc. for supplying body of the essential nutrients.
