Toyota Innova vs Mahindra Xylo
Toyota Innova can be referred as the family car or the business vehicle in the domestic market. The presence of the MPV has been long in India and hence it has now carved a niche for itself in the MPV segment, it is indeed the bestselling vehicle in its segment. It is spacious, comfortable; offer luxurious features, has ample of boot space for storage and comes with a price tag ranging between Rs 9 lkah to Rs 12 lakh. Premium hatchbacks in diesel version cost somewhere between Rs 8 lakh, sedans too are offered between Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakhs. Toyota launched the new version of Innova in India at the grandiose event of Auto Expo 2012, held in Delhi at the Pragati Maidan in January. Another vehicle that gives a tough competition to Innova is Mahindra’s Xylo, which also has been able to grab good amount of attention from the Indian customers. Launched three years back in India, the vehicle has been able to get substantial attention from the car buyers. The MPV is spacious, and has a host of innovative feature equipped in the interiors. The muscular MPV had a boxy look, but the car maker gave it a makeover and the MPV now looks more fresh and sporty.
Toyota Innnova price has been reduced to Rs 8.89 lakhs for the base version and the top end version is priced at Rs 13.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Toyota Innova features include smoked alloy wheels, elegant body graphics with crystal, stylish rear roof spoiler, dark wood panel with dual tone leather seat covers, stylish chrome plated muffler cutter etc. Toyota Innova is available in both petrol and diesel guise, the petrol version is powered with a 1998cc petrol engine that produces 132 PS power at 5600 rpm and 181 Nm of torque at 4000 Rpm. While the diesel trim is housed with a 2494cc diesel engine with a maximum power of 102 PS at 3600 Rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1400-3400 Rpm. Both the engines are harmonized to a manual transmission. The petrol version delivers a mileage of 8.5 kmpl in city and 11.5 kmpl on highway. On the hand the diesel variant runs 10.2 kmpl on fuel economy in city and 13.8 kmpl on highway.
Mahindra Xylo on the other hand is priced at Rs 7.33 lakh for the base variant and the high end version is tagged at Rs 10.47 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom Delhi price). Mahindra Xylo is offered in three engine options that include 2.5 litre mEagle CRDe, 2.5 litre mDI CRDe and 2.2 litre mHawk CRDe powertrain. The mileage offered by these engines are 10 kmpl in city and 13.0 kmpl on highway, 11.50 kmpl in city and 14.95 kmpl on highway and 11.0 kmpl in city and 14.20 kmpl on highway respectively.
Mahindra Xylo is priced less than Toyota Innova at a starting price of Rs 7.33 lakh, therefore Xylo has an upper hand over Innova in terms of price.
