The second feature of any high-viz garment is the reflective striping. These bands are highly retroreflective and are arranged in a pattern that catches the eye when seen by car headlights. These bands are essential for workers who use the clothing in poorly lit or night time situations. Additional stripes should be added to the arms and legs to increase safety especially when the clothing is to be worn near moving traffic or heavy machinery. Stripes are generally 50mm wide and are often included in an x formation on the back.
