Allahabad University cancels Combined Research Entrance Test (CRET) notification
Allahabad University has cancelled the first advertisement that was issued for inviting the application for the Combined Research Entrance Test (CRET)-2012, a test which is mandatory for pursuing PhD in Allahabad University.
The cancellation is due to administrative neglect as university authorities have failed to get the details about the vacant slots of research scholars.
Now, Allahabad University is expected to issue a fresh advertisement of CRET-2012 once the total number of vacant seats get finalised. On being contacted, Director of AU Admission Cell Prof BN Singh conceded the delay but assured that all steps were being taken to issue fresh advertisement of CRET-2012 at the earliest.
Now a fresh advertisement will be issued once all the details of existing vacant seats of DPhil are received by the admission cell. But it’s still not clear when the fresh advertisement would be issued.
CRET-2012 admission process was expected to start in May. AU admission cell director Prof BN Singh even had sought data regarding the vacant seats of research scholars from departments through the registrar of the varsity Prof JN Mishra. But many departments failed to provide the requisite information and the admission process could not be started.
With the Academic Council in its May 16 meeting giving the green signal to raise the limit of maximum research scholars under one teacher from six to eight, it is now expected that the number of vacant DPhil seats will rise significantly.
