Toyota Fortuner is a premium sports utility vehicle (SUV) with some great off roading abilities. The bulky SUV was initially launched in the year 2009 in India and was a runaway success after which a facelift was introduced in the year 2012; the result was the same, an applauding triumph. Since its debut, the Toyota Fortuner has been favorite among high-end individuals, as it offers sheer luxury packed with powerful performance. The vehicle with authoritative stance is based on Toyota Hilux pick-up truck platform.
The facelifted Fortuner gets a new chrome inserted grille and some LandRover kind of slats in the front along with sleeker, more focused self leveling projector head lamps. The newly carved sleek bumper has fresh circular fog lamps. The bonnet has an elegant looking wide air-scoop for cooling the intercooler that provides an appearance of Land Cruiser. The 17-inch aluminum alloys are now restyled and bestow a more imposing stance together with bulging wheel arches that gives you a beasty feel. There are side indicator mounted electrically-powered outside rear view mirrors, while the roof line has sporty looking solid roof rails. At rear the bumpers come with reflectors, a new chrome bar and stylish tail gate with better and clear tail lamps, making the rear dynamic and aggressive.
The premium and spacious interiors of Toyota Fortuner are a delight to watch. The dual beige tone is wrapped with modish central console and proper beige material on the seats, while leather-seats are also available on top-end models. The bold SUV has got more than appropriate space for all occupants with good headroom and legroom together with clear visibility to the driver and co-driver. All around there are many handy storage spaces available in the cabin. The entertainment system comprise of touch screen DVD audio system with Bluetooth interface, also there are audio controls available on steering. For safety concerns it has reverse parking camera, dual SRS airbags and ABS with EBD.
Under the bonnet is 3.0L mammoth diesel power train that is available with 4X2 and 4X4 mechanism. This 2982cc engine churns out max power of 168 bhp at 3600 rpm and a meaty torque of 343 Nm at 1400-3400 rpm. This influential performance could not have been possible without 5-speed manual transmission and recently introduced 4-speed automatic gearbox. With this, it reaches a top speed of 176 kmph and is capable to reach 0-100 kmph in less than 10 seconds.
