Uses For Convum Suction Cups
The humble suction cup, otherwise known as a sucker, was in use as early as 300 BC, when it is believed to have been used as a medical implement. Gourds were used as suction devices to pull “bad blood” out of patients who were suffering from illness or disease. While the medical efficacy of this may be in doubt, the fact that these were functioning suction cups is not. This is useful for a few reasons, the first of which is the absence of a need to press down on the pad in order for it to adhere to a surface, and the second is that this allows the vacuum pad to adhere to a greater variety of surfaces and not be limited only to glossy surfaces.
Of course, in order to create the continuous flow of air resulting in the vacuum, an air compressor is required that pumps air through the vacuum pad. This requires energy and vacuum pads are usually only found in factories and manufacturing plants where they are part of the production process and where this energy usage is outweighed by the profits generated from the products. One of the more innovative uses of vacuum pads has been the adoption of vacuum pads by a confectionary as a means of handling fragile breads without having to apply any pressure to the breads.
There are a great many uses for Convum suction cups and Convum vacuum pads, which is an elegant illustration of just how far a simple concept such as using gourds to suck bad blood out of people can come. Today, many industries worldwide would have a difficult time coping without some form of suction cup or vacuum pad to work with.
