The oil and gas industry seems to be in full swing and recruiting for the industry has started heating up again. Despite the recession oil and gas jobs seem to be all over the internet looking to take determined individuals away from their recession lost job. If you are willing to work in a foreign country, perhaps offshore or able to work on a one month on, one month off type working pattern you might find that that an oil and gas job is what you where looking for.

It seems that oil and gas companies are finding new places where they can drill all the time. Production in the Mexico Gulf will be back into swing any time soon. Even countries like Australia are tapping into their natural reserve and with emerging markets coming into play it looks like there will be a lot of jobs to go around for a long time still.

For offshore jobs you will need to have all the valid work certification. Ensure that you read the job description very carefully so that you know what is expected from you. This will save you a lot of time and effort and if you apply for the right job and the job that you know you are qualified to do you will find that you are shortlisted often and actually contacted by the employer. Don’t hassle the recruiter with questions about “may be letting you work” as you will get hold of certification at a later date. They will release another job posting at a later date if they were unable to fill that specific vacancy.

Oil and gas recruiting doesn’t just see to the placement of oil rig workers. In fact as the industry has pushed its limits with technology it has opened its doors to more professions and jobs of importance stature are now in health, safety and environment. Health and safety has become very important and especially so in working offshore. Many rules and regulations have been put in place to keep employees safe.

Unfortunately it doesn’t matter how save health and safety advisors make the working environment, there is not much they can do about political situations of countries. When applying for work in a notoriously dangerous country ensure that you read up on the country. Find out exactly where you will be staying and investigate as much as possible about that area. It’s also advisable to brush up on the culture of the country you will work in.

At the end of the day you need to feel comfortable in the job that you apply for. That way both you and the employer can get the best out of yourself.
