The speed of the high-speed express will be lowered all along the line
On August 10th, Sheng Guangzu, the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways of China released to the public that the speed of the high-speed express will be lowered all along the line during the first period when the high-speed expresses are in run. He maintained that this measure is taken for the sake of increasing the safety index and accumulating the experiences in safe running. This is the first time in the recent years that the Ministry of Railways of China has decided to lower the speed. These years, the Ministry of Railways of China has increased the speed for six times and has tried to strike the highest speed of the railway.
Sheng Guangzu said: “As to the speed, the high-speed express which is designed to run at 350km/h to the full will run at 300km/h in practice and the high-speed express which is designed to run at 250km/h to the full will run at 200km/h in practice, and the express which has already run at the speed of 250km/h will run at 160km/h after the adjustment. While the speed will be lowered, the ticket price will also be lowered accordingly. ”
Sheng also said that the supervision of the railway project in construction would be strengthened and every point in the whole quality chain would be put under consistent check and regulation. Meanwhile, more measures will be taken in precaution that the signal system and train controlling system.
