Out-of-doors dynamic marketing – Winter Challenges
Out-of-doors dynamic marketing is extremely popular but just think has your modern deployment been thought out? Was it deployed in the warmer months? If so there is a probability that the solution will have no cold weather protection built into the project.
When projects are conceived and planned for the urgent deployment, a general challenge arises and this is one element is occasionally disregarded. This problem does not come to light until later when the signage equipment has been deployed for some time and customers start complaining that the LCD displays are not functioning; this is not through any physical damage, just through Mother Nature.
The major common issue is when a project is being fitted to a tight deadline and the customer does not understanding the idea of a “lead time” expecting it on site tomorrow. It only needs one component and the nonexistence of this item could probably cause a headache because it has been overlooked or misplaced because of the lead time.
One element that cannot be forgotten is an out-of-doors LCD enclosure, otherwise the display will fail in the first winter, and with the added costs of the replacement display this will definitely make this particular project running at a loss.
Installers have been known to disregard an out-of-doors dynamic marketing case as excessive, but the function of these shielding housings is to make sure the advertising machine is in a micro climate, so no matter what the exterior situation are the devices inside is kept in the most appropriate and controlled condition. This is done with a mix of air conditioning units, heaters and thermo management system enabling the installer to set the correct internal temperature so when the heat inside rises due to the high external temperature the cooling unit comes on and the air inside is cooled down below the preset, the contrary happens in winter when the temperature drops rapidly over night, this abrupt plummet can affect the display dramatically if not protected, this is why heaters are fitted to outside LCD cases, as they work to rise the inside temperature to above the preset temperature defending the hardware from frost and sub zero temperatures.
The heaters also nip in the bud condensation building up inside the cabinet as this will cause the machine to sweat, this too can have disastrous effects on the inside equipment.
