Auli – Ideal for Skiing Enthusiasts
Auli is an important ski destination located in the Himalayan mountains. This place lies on the way to Badrinath and is blessed with the best scenic views of the mighty Himalaya mountains. The best time to visit is Auli is the last week of Jan to the first week of March for skiing. Auli has a cool climate during all seasons: the maximum temperature is 15 degrees from March to June. However, temperatures drop to -8 degrees in December. Although the weather is very unpredictable in each season.
The world’s highest man made lake is located at Auli next to the Private Clifftop Club. The water from the lake helps to extend the ski season. Auli is surrounded by mighty peaks like Mana, Kamet, and Nanda Devi. Many sages used to meditate in these hills; this environment has a positive effect on the body and gives utmost peace of mind. In Auli, there is a small Hanuman temple having some connection to the epic Ramayana. The temple of Badrinath is closed for 5-6 months during the winter. The idol of Lord Badri Vishal is brought and kept in the temple at Joshimath, which is a golden chance for Hindus to see their favorite deity. The Mata Murti Ka Mela is celebrated every September with many rituals and festivities. Auli along with Dehradun hosted the First South Asian Winter Games in 2011.

A flight can be taken from Delhi to Dehradun as Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport that is situated at Dehradun. Taxi cabs are available at the airport, which can be taken to reach Auli. The distance will be covered in approximately 5 hours. Bus and cab services can be taken from Auli to Delhi, and the total distance will be covered in about 8 hours.
