When Will I Die? A Mystery Shattered
It doesn’t matter which part of the world we originate from, what sort of education we have, or what kind of life we lead currently, we all dwell upon the all important issue: “When will I die?”. We are the sole species that is informed of the finality of its own mortality, so it’s no shock that we are so immersed with pondering how much time we have left on earth.
Unmistakably, there are no shortage of reasons why the time of our passing is so important to us. A lot of us advocate belief systems which postulate solutions to what will become of us once we give up the ghost, but inwardly call for a more visible framework than such speculation in order for us to be truly and extensively persuaded of something. As a result, whoever we may be and whatever we believe, there remains a significant element of real doubt in our minds as to just what will become of us after we bite the dust.
Another important reason is that our exit marks a definite end to the only mode of existence we are consciously aware of, even if we believe we have lived before in a separate existence. Leaving behind everything you know for an existence you have no awareness of is a frightful issue for even the most brave of us.
Despite all the hard knocks which life hands out to all individuals, we wholly love life too much to want it to end. Even the phenomenon of suicide doesn’t postulate much of a counter argumentation to this fact, as psychological studies state strong evidence which implies that self-murders tend to be enacted by those acting on strikingly short-term impulses, ones which would have surely passed had they not enforced their own demise upon themselves in that specific moment. In the simplest terms, the fact of our mortality doesn’t rest well with us as individuals, and hence we are endlessly intended to meditate upon how long we have to live on this planet, and when we will die.
