Lahore – Cultural Heart of Pakistan
Lahore is the capital of the Pakistani province of Punjab and the second largest city in the country. It is a main cultural centre of Pakistan. It is referred to as the cultural heart of Pakistan as it hosts most of the arts, cuisine, festivals, film-making, music, gardening and intelligentsia of the country. It is also an important religious center as it is home to hundreds of temples, mosques, and shrines like Data Durbar Complex and can be visited by Religious Tours packages. Located 8 kilometers east of Lahore, it is one of the popular Lahore Tourist Attractions. Built in 16th century by Shahjehan, Shalamar Garden was used as the Royal pleasure Garden by the Mughals during 16th to 19th century and are divided into 3 parts on different levels. The entire garden with its tanks, fountains and flower beds covers an area of 80 acres. The idea of making Shalamar Garden was strongly influenced by the gardens of the same name in Kashmir.
Hazuri Bagh is surrounded by many famous and historic buildings such as Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort, Roshnai gate etc. This garden represents the traditional style of Mughals as it was built during the Mughal rules. The great number of visitors visits to enjoy this beautiful garden in order to recall the memory of the Mughal times and to recall famous traditional Punjabi Stories such as Heer Ranjha, which is very popular among the people of Lahore as well as Pakistan. M M Alam Road is the most happening shopping district in Lahore with lavish and exclusive designer shops. From furniture to garments, both western and Pakistani are on sale in these shops.
