Who are your youth sermons for?
When you are creating and developing youth sermons to deliver to your youth ministry you must remember who your target audience is. Your youth group and your youth ministry is most likely made up of teenagers who are high school or in the last years of middle school. You may also have students who might be younger in your youth ministry but for the purposes of this article we will focus in on the teenagers of your youth ministry.
When you are developing youth sermons to deliver to your students you must realize that teenagers have a very short attention span and you must gain their attention from the very beginning. You must also do your very best to engage her students right off the bat so that they do daydream or start thinking about other things. You’ll also be faced with the realization that when teens are together they usually like to spark a conversation amongst each other. From the get-go you must set ground rules that when you are delivering your sermons that he will command respect from each and every single one of your ministry students and that you will give them respect back and allow for questions and conversation at the end of your sermon. A great way to start up any sermon that you are delivering to your youth ministry is to ask them a few questions about the topic that you will be covering so that you can get them engaged and interested in the subject that you will be talking about. This comes together very nicely because after your sermon you should allow for a group conversation and group discussion about your presentation to your youth group.
Your youth sermons should be directly aimed at your students so they can keep their attention throughout the entire time that you are together. When you are connecting biblical scripture to their lives and the events of today you are bringing your students in and grabbing their attention by allowing them to connect and to relate to the figures and stories of the Bible. When you are able to make connections between today’s world and the Bible during your sermons that you are delivering to your youth ministry you are more likely to grab the attention of your youth ministry students. It is a great idea to connect the stories that you are teaching from the Bible to current events that are happening in your local community and also that your students know about from the nationwide news.
During your youth sermons that you are delivering to your youth ministry students don’t be afraid to think outside the box and use multimedia presentations to aid in your delivery. This can mean that you use DVDs movie clips PowerPoint presentations or music while you are presenting a sermon to your youth ministry.
You should always deliver your youth sermons to your youth ministry students with the passion and the love that you have for Jesus Christ and let it be known that Jesus Christ is what charge you in your everyday. When you allow your love and passion for Jesus Christ to show through to your youth ministry students not only will they be more attentive but there will be more likely to be accepting of your message.
