Nepal is a land locked country in the South Asia and it shares its borders with India and China. The capital of Nepal is Kathmandu and it is also the largest city in Nepal. Helambu is a nearby place where trekking is open through out the year. Some of the other attractive places in the Himalayan region are Dolpo, Rara, Kanchenjunga and upper Mustang. The hilly region is locally called as the pahadi bheg and it lies between the southern plains and the northern Himalayan range. More than 57%of the population of Nepal resides in this hilly region. The main places of attraction are Kathmandu valley, Pokhra, Tansen, Gorkha. Kathmandu is the capital city and showcases the ethnic culture, tradition and art of the country. Kathmandu is home to numerous temples and shrines. Tansen is a town which showcases the ethnic architectural culture of Newari people. Gorkha is the home town of the ruling family in Nepal. This place is of historic importance with lot of forts and temples. The Terai regions are the plains in the country and almost half of the population lives here. You can experience thick forests and green agricultural grounds. Main tourist attractions are Lumbini, Janakpur, Chitwan and Royal Bardia National park.
