Kusama in Wonderland
Kusama in Wonderland
Louis Vuitton presents a collector’s edition of Alice in Wonderland illustrated by Yayoi Kusama and signed and numbered in 111 copies.
“I, Kusama, am the modern Alice in Wonderland”.
At first sight, what could link the Janpanese artist Yayoi Kusama to the mythical character Alice in Wonderland? They share a favorite imaginary playground, a passion for fantasy and an obession with childhood. Louis Vuitton has chosen to pay homage to a great source of inspiration for Kusama by proposing a limited edition of Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece illustrated by Kusama, exclusively available in Louis Vuitton stores.
Contemporary art icon since the early sixties, Yayoi Kusama presents her illustrated reinterpretation of the famous Alice in Wonderland by inviting the reader to follow her trajectories and development of various “visual vocabularies”. The book, presented in an elegant box including Lewis Carroll’s original writing as well as two works signed by Kusama, inaugurates a dreamlike journey where the literary work meets contemporary art, and draws the reader into the Japanese artist’s chimerical world.
On sale from July 10th in a selection of Louis Vuitton stores, this collector’s edition is limited to 111 copies, signed and numbered by the artist.
