Meeting with your youth ministry during the week
There are a lot of youth groups who can only mean during the week which can be a challenge in itself because teenagers have a lot of responsibilities and a lot of commitments that they have that are connected to school and also extracurricular activities such as sports. If the best time for you as a youth leader to meet with your youth ministry is during the week there are a few things they need to keep in mind so that everybody can get the most out of your youth ministry work.
The first thing you have to remember when you’re meeting with your youth ministry during the week is that everybody for the most part is on a tight schedule and everybody has a certain number of commitments. When your students show up to your youth ministry meetings they are showing a level of commitment and dedication to learning what you have to teach so it is your responsibility to the best of your ability to leverage them creative and interesting Bible lessons and sermons that will help them throughout the week and throughout any challenges that they face in these difficult times as a teenager. If you only have one day a week but you can meet with your youth ministry and the meeting is only one hour long you need to grab everybody’s attention from the get-go and make sure that you are talking to them about topics and subjects that affect them currently today. Connect Bible stories that you are teaching them with the topics and events that are happening in their local community and also talk about topics that affect teenagers worldwide. When you connect the stories and the events of the Bible with the stories and events of today’s world you are far more likely to grab everybody’s attention and you will raise the likelihood that your students will listen to you attentively for the short time that you have together.
Your youth ministry work should be planned out well in advance so that you can cover a number of things in the short time that you have together with your youth ministry. If you only have a little time together with your youth ministry you will have to cover many things such as your Bible lessons and your youth ministry outreach planning in a short amount of time. When this is the case it is a good idea to have a written down checklist so that you can have a visual image of what you have covered at your meeting and what you still need to get to. When you have a checklist that you need to go over it shows that you are dedicated to preplanning and getting everything that you need in order so that your time together with your youth ministry is not only effective but also very impactful and will help your students. When you show dedication to youth ministry by planning ahead and being extremely diligent with the time that you have with your students you are doing the work of Jesus Christ by spreading his word to your students.
