Activities to do in the summer
During the hot summer months when it is too hot to stay indoors and also a shame to let the great weather go to waste you in your youth ministry should get outdoors and participate in activities that are not only fun but build camaraderie between all of your youth ministry students. When you are outdoors with your youth ministry students you are allowing them to get some fresh air and a little bit of exercise which all teens today need. Getting outdoors with your youth ministry students in the summer is also a great excuse to participate in a bunch of outreach programs in your community where you can help those who are less fortunate than you. So here are a few ideas to share with youth ministry students to get outside and have some fun.
A great outreach program and you can do with youth ministry students as a car wash at the church or at a large parking lot. You can use this activity as a fundraiser for a certain program at your church or to raise money for your youth ministry activities. When you’re having a car wash with your youth ministry students remember to have the proper materials needed to give each car a good thorough cleaning. This activity takes a bit of planning but when it comes together you’ll be happy that you and your youth ministry student accomplished a great outreach program in your community.
Another outreach program that you can do with your youth ministry in the summer months is to hand out bottles of water at crowded areas on hot days. The people that you’re handing the bottles of water out to will surely be appreciative of the cold refreshment that you are getting to them. This doesn’t have to be an expensive event as you can by the will bottles of water in bulk and have everybody chipped in a small amount of money to cover the costs. The people who are appreciative of the bottles of water should also be notified that your youth ministry is the group that is giving them the cold refreshment on a hot day. Encourage those people to come to your services and be sure to let them know when and where they can attend your church.
The summer months is also a great time to get outside and enjoy God’s great outdoors with your youth ministry. A great way to enjoy the outdoors with your youth ministry is to hold a Bible lesson or use ministry meeting at a local park or on a walking trail. When you are outdoors with your youth ministry students in a casual setting everybody can relax and have fun whilst talking about Scripture and those topics that are important to them. Gathering up your youth ministry students and going for a hike on a nature trail and having a picnic at the end of it is a great activity where you can come together and enjoy God’s great outdoors as a team.
The summer months go by in a flash so make sure you get outside and enjoy every moment with your youth ministry.
