There are spikes present at one end of the stump which makes the stump inserted into the ground. The other end is curved or rounded to support the bails on it.

Helmet is a protective head gear that must be worn by all the players to protect themselves from getting injured. The ball comes in full force that it could even hurt the player standing on the opposite side. Before the helmets were designed only to cover the head region. But covering only the head region was not sufficient because the balls can even hurt the face. So later the helmets were designed in a way that it even covers the face region to an extent.
