Vythiri – nature’s hidden beauty
Vythiri is a small picturesque town in the Wayanad Hills in the state of Kerala in the southern part of India. It is a beautiful hill station and an ideal holiday spot. The town is popular among tourists who visit the place to enjoy a relaxed time in the midst of nature. The town is located at an elevation of 1300 meters above the sea level, and is just above the Thamarassery Ghat, lying in the northern Wayanad district. Vythiri is about 100 km from the town of Kozhikode which is the nearest important town.

Vythiri has quite a few wonderful tree houses which are small lodgings made of wood perched at the top of the trees of tropical rain forests above 90 feet from the ground. Chembra peak is the tallest peak in Wayanad with an altitude of 2100 meters and is a favourite among trekking enthusiasts. The Pookot Lake is about 30 km from Vythiri and is located amidst the forest, making it a scenic site. The Edakkal Caves which are part of the Ambukuthi Hills, the Likkidi hills which are ideal for trekking, and the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary with its amazing flora and fauna, are other places of tourist interest located near Vythiri.
Vythiri is about 100 km from the town of Kozhikode which is the nearest important town. There is good bus connectivity from here. The nearest airport is Calicut International Airport which is at a distance of 85 km.
The weather here is pleasant due to its elevation. Vythiri is a perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the monsoon season in Kerala as the rains enhance the beauty of the Western Ghats. Tourists can visit the town during the months of May to September to enjoy the monsoons here.
