How to Build a Solid Business Team

Success of a business is not brought about by one person; rather it is brought about by a TEAM. You can be the most brilliant entrepreneur or businessman in the whole world, but you can’t work alone. Without a solid team behind you, you will be exhausted, crashing down and burned very soon.

All successful entrepreneurs, businessmen and women we have met, have a strong team behind them. A successful entrepreneur will always have a good vision and concrete action plan. But, he or she is also able to transform his or her vision into real manifestation.

Successful entrepreneurs have the ability to inspire and move a whole team to implement their action plan. He or she is able to give a clear path or vision for his or her team to follow and accomplish the same goal.

You can have the best intentions and the best laid out plans in your head, but none of it would matter if you could not establish a successful team to orchestrate the entire thing with you.

But, how do you build a high-skilled and high-achiever TEAM that is able to deliver above par performance?

Of course, the first step to building or setting up a solid team that can deliver what you want, is from yourself. Meaning that you must have a vision and clear goals set out first. You must also have your expectations laid out clearly. Without all these, how do you expect people to help you attain what you want?

After you have a solid plan, gather your people together and explain to them your vision and your expectations as clear to them as possible – no hidden agenda here!

Once you lay out clearly your goals and your expectations, you must also work with your people to identify the skills needed to attain the goals. Does your team have the skills neccessary to perform the job? If not, how do you train them? And how long does it take to train them up? Do we need to hire external workers or professionals.

Therefore, not only that you need a vision and action plan but you also need to identify and understand your resources. You may have the best vision in the world but if you don’t have the right resources, you are not going to make your vision to become a reality.

Therefore, go and conduct an assimilation session to identify and lay out all your expectations. Before anything else, you need to explain to your people what your purpose is. You need to be able to explain what you expect them to do and what you expect to come out of this.

Proper communication should be established right from the beginning, in order for things to flow as smoothly as it should. You can also ask the participants to share to you, their own expectations. This will help you in identifying between each one of them. It will narrow down the choices so much more because you will be able to see who among the group is truly in tune with your vision.

As time goes by… you must also keep in touch and assess your team performance. To build a strong and solid team, you need to identify those people who are not in line with your vision. Weed them out and only keep those who are inspired by your vision.

I have shared with you some great tips on how to build a solid team for your business. Remember that building a strong team is a process and this process will not happen over time. You need to be consistent with your approach. There are time and effort needed to build a solid team, but this is the time well spent.
