(1888 PressRelease) Inaugurated on March 16th, 2022, named the Women in Cloud Center of Excellence in India, is designed to accelerate women and allies access to digital skilling, technology innovation and job placement by leveraging public-private partnerships.
This week, Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering (RVCE) in Bengaluru, India, opened a new Center of Excellence Center in partnership with US-based economic development organization, Women in Cloud (WIC). Inaugurated on March 16th, 2022, named the Women in Cloud Center of Excellence in India, is designed to accelerate women and allies access to digital skilling, technology innovation and job placement by leveraging public-private partnerships.
A March 2020 NASSCOM report, “India’s Tech Industry: Women For The Techade”, states that women constitute only 35 percent of India’s technology industry. According to the IDC Report, the overall Indian public cloud services market is expected to reach $10.8 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 24.1% for 2020-25.
The Women In Cloud Center of Excellence center will provide Cloud technology upskilling and reskilling opportunities to women, while preparing and empowering them for job opportunities. Innovation lab programming at the center will encourage open innovation, boost engineering research and development, and provide recruitment assistance to bridge the gap between academic skills and the needs of the engineering industry.
“This year, we will focus all of our attention and energy on creating and delivering Collective Influence through leadership and business transformation programming that will establish us as the most vibrant and influential community in India and the rest of the world”, said Chaitra Vedullapalli, President and Co-Founder of WIC and RVCE alumni, during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the center this week. “Together, each and every one of us has the ability to collectively influence our industry and UN 2030 Sustainable Goals and Women in Cloud is pledging our commitment to help you to change lives in 2022.”
While WIC’s pledge is to generate $1B in net new global economic access for women entrepreneurs by 2030, the center will not restrict itself to women, providing all engineering students with an opportunity to benefit from the programming.
“We are grateful to Women in Cloud and industry partners for their partnership in creating this powerful platform to accelerate RVCE students as leaders in the technology industry”, said Dr. K N Subramanya, RVCE Principal during the inauguration event.
The center will be ably supported by industry partners actively associated with Cloud technologies, including Boeing, Microsoft and IAMCP, who also participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
