Melindo A. Persi Honored as Recipient of 2010 Distinguished Educator Award

(1888PressRelease) Melindo Persi has received numerous honors throughout his career including: the 2007 National Distinguished Service Award, the 2010 Distinguished Educator Award by the New Jersey Council of Education and has been named to Outstanding Young Men in America, Who’s Who in N.J. and Who’s Who.

Bridgewater, NJ – Melindo Persi of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Ortley Beach, New Jersey was recently honored by the New Jersey Council of Education as the recipient of the 2010 Distinguished Educator Award. This award was bestowed upon Mel Persi for his years of dedicated service to the field of education and to the students of New Jersey.

Melindo Persi has served in numerous educational positions throughout his outstanding career in education including, most notably, seven years as Passaic County Superintendent of Schools. Melindo Persi, former president of the New Jersey Association of Former County Superintendents, currently serves as Executive Director to the Association. Mel Persi is also currently the President of MAP Educational Associates, LLC with offices of Toms River, New Jersey and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Mel Persi retired as Superintendent of Schools from Edison in 1998. Throughout his stellar career, Melindo Persi served as Superintendent of three districts in New Jersey and Interim Superintendent Plainfield, Willingboro, Brick and Belleville schools.
Melindo Persi is described by many as a ‘people person’ with high integrity and enormous energy. Mel Persi has been credited for organizing and implementing a transparent administration and was instrumental in the development of an Educational Foundation in two school districts. It is this expansive history of dedication to education that has earned Melindo Persi the honor and title of a 2010 Distinguished Educator from the New Jersey Council of Education.

Melindo Persi has also received recognition from AASA (American Association of School Administrators) and in 2007 was honored as a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. Melindo Persi and other honorees of the AASA Distinguished Service Award are recognized for bringing honor to themselves, their colleagues and their profession; rendering exemplary service to their state or national professional association; and contributing to the education field through writing, public advocacy or other activities. The Distinguished Service Award carries a life membership in AASA.

About Melindo Persi

Mel Persi is a graduate of Trenton State College and Rutgers University. Melindo A Persi began his career in education as a middle school teacher at Franklin Township in Warren County and soon after took on his first role as superintendent at Washington Township in Mercer County and retired having served as superintendent of three New Jersey Districts. Melindo Persi has also served as an adjunct professor at both Rutgers University and Morris County Community College.
