Ulysse Nardin started manafacturing nautical luxury chronometers in Neuchatel, Switzerland, over 160 years ago, and perpetually since, they have explored challenges that have delivered exciting opportunities. The brand has been in the more than proficient hands of Rolf W Schnyder who took the brand name away from the concepts of the era with thanks to the expertise and the guidance of Dr Ludwig Oechslin.
Oechslin astounded Schnyder with a wall clock astrolabe he had made during the renovation of the Farnesian clock in the Vatican museum. At the request of Schnyder, Oechslin went on to decrease the astrolabe to fit in a luxury timepiece. This saw the delivery of the Astrolabium Galileo Galilei, this was the 1st piece in Oechslin`s series, “Trilogy of Time”. This series saw the watchmaker thrust back into the spotlight and his name carved in the recognized, Guinness Book of Records.
This was the moment when Schnyder knew without reservation that this was something very special.
Ulysee Nardin is known worldwide as manafacturers of superior watches, outstanding in all apsects. Mechanical innovations are always at the forefront of the brand name and this is one of the numerous causes why they have been presented with several awards. The superb Innovision came about courtesy of the FREAK, this was considered by many to be one of the most inventive of all timepieces ever to be created and it was a great success with the general public. Ulysse Nardin secured achievements with the “Astrolabium, Planetarium and the Tellurium”, along with taking the “Innovation Prize” four times. The “Freak, Genghis Khan, GMT + Perpetual” and the “Sonata” have all been recognised.
