What are the Acupuncture Risks?
Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine that has a great deal of benefits to offer. It involves the insertion of solid filiform acupuncture needles into the skin at specific points on the body to achieve a therapeutic effect. There are no drugs that are involved with this therapy and instead only needles inserted into certain points on the body.
You can see what the different points on the body are on acupuncture charts which are readily available all around the world. The acupuncture points on the body are places on the skin that have a lower resistance to the passage of electricity than the surrounding skin. You are only supposed to insert the needles into specific points on the body because on other areas the needles will have no effect.
Risks
If you have not gotten acupuncture before, then of course you are going to want to be aware of the acupuncture risks, if any, and what they are. Acupuncture risks are few and in between, but you are still going to want to make sure that you are aware of just what the acupuncture risks are.
When done properly, acupuncture will rarely ever have any negative effects. However many will feel a bit of pain, even as little as a pinprick, as the needles are being inserted. Because there are no drugs used you are not going to be numb to the needles, but the point is that when they are inserted properly, you will not feel any pain.
One side effect that has been noticed is that the patient’s condition will actually get worse after they have the acupuncture treatment, but again this is quite rare.
So you can see that the acupuncture risks are very rare, and so if this is a therapy that you are interested in going through with, then the acupuncture risks are not something that you should be worried about. You are going to want to make sure that you discuss with your doctor what the goals are of the process before going through with it.
You are going to have to discuss thoroughly what side effects you experience, if you do notice any, after the process. Your comfort is a priority, and so they will work with you to ensure that these side effects are taken care of promptly. It is nice to know that there is a type of therapy such as this which can offer such dramatic results.
