Trademark Search
Since November 2009, the IMPI opened to the general public its database called MarcaNet providing access to electronic information via Internet, it can do phonetic searches, review the status of the brands that are in the process of registration, check whether a mark is available in a particular class, search by file marks, look for brands by name, among others.
But what is to draw attention is that trademark searches are free, eliminated the fees, with this determination will facilitate the study of brands available in the Institute.
The determination of the IMPI has given us the opportunity to provide better service to our customers, since we do not charge in any phonetic searches, as we believe that is an advantage to provide better and more wise information to the client before applying registration of a trademark.
Yet this is a determination that facilitates the registration of trademarks and consultation, the interpretation of the information is not so simple, the same system as the IMPI MarcaNet spreads it does not guarantee that the marks are available, as well as the system is fallible criteria not only reduces the phonetic part of a brand, but also the visual, grammatical and ideological, it is still a great tool.
