If you choose their full service package, the moving company will come in and pack the stuff for you, move it to the new location and unpack it. This will save you a lot of time, but it also may be costly, so ensure the cost before requesting the service. If you choose their self service package, you will do the packing, they will do the moving and you will do the unpacking. This is less costly, but more work. Consider your options and what they mean to you. This will be an individual and personal choice. For example, if you had to start a new job soon after your move, the full service package might work best for you.
When you get ready to sign the moving contract, make sure that the delivery and pick up dates are correct and the contract should show the number of hours that will be allocated to the job.
Before and on the day of the move
Now, what should you do before the move? Well, there are some normal things that most people either forget or neglect to do. If you are going to move in three days or less, do not go to the grocery store for food other than specific essentials that will last only for those days. You will need a map if you are going to be driving a truck that will need clearance in certain areas. Be certain to drive through the route before the day of the move to ensure that the truck does have clearance especially if this is a local move.
Do a research on the web to see if there are any road constructions en route. On the day of the move, pack finger foods such as grapes, apples, carrot sticks, sandwiches, water and juice to take along with you. The fruits will hydrate you so that you don’t have to drink too much water and have to stop for the restroom during travel. Bring music CD’s with you to play while traveling. Make reservations for an hotel along the way or with a family member.
