Wedding Color Trends
The past couple of years have seen brides drastically cut down from fairytale dream weddings to dream weddings that have a slightly more real (read: affordable) aspect to them.Imported candy-coated almonds from Spain being replaced with more affordable personalized favors like Koozies.Though the modern bride may be “a-changin” and gals these days are leaning more towards practical, there’s one aspect that doesn’t need to be adjusted no matter how large or small your budget may be. Wedding colors are a fun and unique way to add a little flair to your happy affair.
2010 Color Trends
Albeit a little late in the year, following is a list as seen on yourweddingcompany.com of this last half of the year’s colors:
Fall/Winter: deep red, teal, violet, mocha, sage
What can I do with my colors?
Colors are an easy way to help build and stick-to a cohesive theme for your wedding. Without a clear color palette, your wedding could end up looking like the 64box of Crayola Crayons threw up on your wedding day. Not only do colors help you look organized but they easily help the bride on a budget to pull together a polished and elegant look without the extravagant and elegant bill. While you don’t want guests exclaiming over the costs of your wedding (being too showy looks tacky, especially in today’s economic climate) you also don’t want them commenting on how cheap your decorations or favors look. Your best bet is to always keep them guessing. Expensive looking enough, but not enough for them to know what you skimped on and what was a total splurge!
Weave your colors through centerpieces, food buffets and ceremony decorations. Fall’s “in season” flowers almost always come in a variety of the colors listed above (in season is always a much better deal!). Pick one “strong color” for the ceremony with an accent color and go the reverse for the reception!
Add ribbons to your dining table for chic dressed-up silverware. Stretch your floral budget as thin as it can go and use one flower on each guests plate with a creative center piece like Personalized Koozies or a cornucopia of fall vegetables.
Colors are intended to be a background platform for giving guests a total packaged experience.Use them wisely and remember when in doubt, you can’t go wrong with 2 lovely color that contrast nicely with each other.
