Soft Middle Age: Out of Focus

The approach of soft middle age is seldom greeted with a round of cheers. The approach of 40 or 50 brings with it reoccurring bouts of blurred vision and hard to read menus and New York Times bestsellers. What was it that Tom Clancy wrote? Too bad you can’t make it out unless you hold it at arm’s length. Sure, a pair of reading glasses would do the trick, but why subject yourself to that kind of embarrassment?

Disposable Contacts: Not Wasteful, Blissful

It is hard for some people to shake the stigma of disposable contacts as being somehow wasteful or irresponsible. This is why the industry opted to use the “one-day” moniker for disposables. The word “disposable” once conjured images of convenience and forward-thinking industry. Now, unfortunately, it conjures images of waste, landfills, and Al Gore. The Day the Future Stood Still

There is no way you can discount cute. Sure, you can rage against the machine when it comes to horrific or violent, but nothing can hold a candle up to cute. What to sell fabric softener? Get cute. What to sell pet chow? Get cute. Want to make quadrillions of dollars? Get really cute, my friend — and preferably with a robot.

Road Trip Comforts

The New Tractor Ray

The double-time march of technology moves so quickly it’s hard keep pace. In fact, I only recently have finished converting all my music tapes with CDs. And it only took me 10 years to do it. Admittedly, I still enjoy dusting of my cassettes and clunking down on my circa 1988 boom box, but only occasionally — and only when my wife is not around.
